Disorders
Autism* is a bio-neurological developmental
disability that generally appears before the age of
3. It impacts the normal development of the brain
in the areas of social interaction, communication
skills, and cognitive function. Individuals with
autism typically have difficulties in verbal and
non-verbal communication, social interactions,
and leisure or play activities. They often suffer
from numerous physical ailments which include
sensory integration dysfunction, sleeping
disorders, and more.

There are a number of disorders usually
associated with the therapies we provide.
The list is by no means complete.
Furthermore, while we provide this list as
a service, we advise extreme caution to
avoid labeling a condition. The complexity
and variability of people makes any
labeling inadequate at best and deceptive
and misleading at worst. While we
understand disorders and their
ramifications, we focus on improved
function and interaction with people and
the environment. That is, we do everything
possible to help our clients navigate the
world, "disorders" notwithstanding.
ADD/ADHD Attention Deficit
Disorder/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
symptoms include inattention and/or hyperactivity
and impulsivity inappropriate for the person's
age.
Another good resource for this and other
disorders.
Traumatic Brain Injury requires carefully focused
individualized rehabilitative therapies.
PDD-NOS Pervasive Developmental Disorder -
Not Otherwise Specified, exhibits some, but not
but not all, of the symptoms associated with
autism. These include difficulty socializing with
others, repetitive behaviors, and heightened
sensitivities to certain stimuli.
Torticollis is a congenital or acquired condition
manifest by a twisted neck.
Down Syndrome is a chromosomal disorder
with manifest mental and physical
characteristics, usually lower than average
cognitive ability and mild to moderate
developmental disabilities.
Cerebral Palsy  is a neurological disorder that
appear in infancy or early childhood and
permanently affect body movement and muscle
coordination but don’t worsen over time. It is
caused by abnormalities in parts of the brain.
Apraxia/Dyspraxia are conditions of ineffective
sensory integration, motor planning and
execution in children caused by immaturity of
their central nervous system resulting in an
impaired ability to plan skilled, nonhabitual
coordinated movements.
